Setbacks

Reposted from my personal Facebook page:

So I hate it when people put all their drama and problems here on facebook, but I just thought I’d share this:

Since leaving our house for Peru, we’ve hit three major setbacks. First, we forgot Gianna’s Peruvian birth certificate and had to get grandma to mail it to us in Peru. Second, we forgot we had a sixth checked suitcase that contained our nice winter jackets, a couple other sweaters, dresses, shoes, and even make up, so we accidentally left it at the airport last night. Third, mom wakes up this morning to do work on her iPad, only to find that it’s GONE. Left on the airplane? Maybe. Most likely stolen though, and Apple’s “find me” app isn’t working cause the device is off and needs to be on wifi. Also in mom’s iPad case was a fair amount of cash needed to pay back her sister.

A fun, family, cultured experience has definitely started off on the wrong foot… it’s three strikes and you’re out, right? It’s hard to stay positive, but looking at the bright side says at least we’re here together as a family and in good health, and with family we haven’t seen in years. I’m so glad and know how privileged I am to be here, and in the grand scheme of things… it’s just “stuff.” But it sure would helped to still have those things and not regret losing the sentimental value of it all. We’ll keep praying that things go well and hope the opposite doesn’t happen anymore…

FOR MOM: I love you, these things will pass and we’ll get back on the right track and make the best of these two weeks! Remember, we can do this we can do this we can do this we can do this!!!
